No change

Even in the evening rush hour (after thousands of passengers must have used hundreds of buses) I've been told by grumpy bus drivers that they have no change.

Last week I expressed my surprise at this state of affairs. "This is my first run!" I was told, in no uncertain terms.

Do the bus company never give drivers a float at the start of their shift?

No the company certain do not provide a " float" we the drivers are responsible for all monies collected and have to make up any shortfalls. The reason we maynot have change is that ( well here in London)95% of people use tickets and in central London it is tcikets only no cash .

Like shabba said, you are not provided with a float and if you're short at the end of the day it comes out of your wages. Sometimes you just have bad luck with change.

More than ten people get on with 10 pound notes and robs you of your change. Most people in rush hour are also corporates with weekly or montly cards so money isn't necesarily changing hands here.

But I have sympathy for both parties. I also used buses alot after quiting First and also struggled with change. In my opinion there are worse things in life to get upset about. This is a small matter.
